VC10 video

Post by speedbird591 »

I've just loaded fraps and been having a bit of a play with it. The first video turned out to be almost presentable, so I thought I'd almost present it

Two and a half minutes of a VC10 landing at Kai Tak (wmv).

It seems to run fine for me but if you get buffering there's a download here:

very nice Ian

Agree with Dave though... more flaps and some speed brake next time... that was impressive stopping without those though ;-)

ImageNo, Dave, my flap gauge is not broken (as you well know)!
D'you know, I genuinely thought 'I wonder if anyone will notice?' Where on earth did I think I was?

Anyway, I'm sure you all also noticed that because of that error (on the part of the FO and to be fair to him, he was holding the video camera) we were too slow on finals for the configuration and lost a bit of height so I had to bring the nose up a bit and that led to drifting too far down the runway etc. etc. But in mitigation Ben was wrong about the spoilers. It's just difficult to see them from that angle :worried:

I just don't know how Clint Eastwood can direct and star in a movie at the same time, perhaps he can give me a few tips. But I really feel sorry for Peter Jackson trying to direct a historical aviation movie! He's got no chance of acceptance simply because of the dog's name! I hope his Lancs have got the right number of rivets (or whatever it was that held them together  ) or you lot will crucify him! Oh the sacrifices we artists make for the sake of our art :)

Well, that was just a trial (at which I was found guilty in my absence) . Now I know what I'm up against the final cut will have to be edited with a great deal more care!

Ian

I thought it polite to ask Ian.. just in case you were going to 'snag' it and win a 3 day stopover

I look forward to the 'final cut'

Fantastic old boy, a brilliant video and a nice greaser landing!! :welldone:

Don't worry too much about the critics Ian, no pleasing some folk is there after all....It's not real!! :

Perhaps on the next video it will be with the Trident - right hand seat - correct airspeed and full flaps and spoilers at auto

Regards
Nigel.

Perhaps ...

Anyway, thank you for your (misguided) support, Nigel. Of course, I learnt everything I know from you - so if they don't like it, it's your fault!
