B-)

ps. Just taking a closer look at that shot. Is that an aircraft parked alongside the big white building on my wing tip?

Not very clear, as it's an enlarged section of the above shot.

Certainly an aircraft, but is it on the ground or flying? Any sharp eyed spotters care to identify it?

Apologies for wandering ever-so-slightly off topic.

A shadow perhaps? (Not the microlight variant either).

It wasn't there when I flew over this afternoon  Ahh.. I don't feel quite so old now ;)

All we need now is a Spartan Cruiser! :worried: ;)

Drat! ... and Double Drat!! I was hoping to reveal the answer tomorrow morning, but I should have known better than to try to pull the wool over your eagle eyes.

:-#

Seriously though, in the real world, an aircraft wouldn't throw such a shadow.

Well having found it, we need to know what buildings were there....or did they use tents in those days!!

I could always try and make a fictional version of the planned airfield...or perhaps not!

I love that terminal and tower

Unfortunately, the only shot of it I have is taken through the cockpit window of an Envoy and it could be anywhere!! You can make out one building and a field (the airfield) and that's it. I'll dig around and see what I can find (though I'm not holding my breath). I think the airfield expansion plan shown in that link was far and above what was there up to Sep '39 :(

A Spartan Cruiser!? How common! Pop down to Pompey old chap, and ask my man to take you over there in the Executive. Far more civilised.
