That Hastings brought back some memories...You can see that windowed hatch immediately under the flight deck...There was a hinged hatch door in the floor of the flightdeck and you had to open that to get down there. I climbed down there, closing the hatchway above me and lay prone over those windows as the pilot flew the Hastings low around the Victoria Falls. He even flew through the spray rising from the falls...Well it was very exciting and when I came to open the hatchway to get out of there, I couldn't budge it. There were a whole bunch of other 266 Squadron pilots standing on it! Naturally they just ignored my banging on the hatch, so I just had to lay back down again for the landing

Thanks again folks.Peter,that a was a very interesting recollection.It is very gratifying to note the the number of viewings and responses because there was a possibility that all of these photos would have been discarded sometime soon without further attention.There will be more where these came from later if you don't mind viewing them.Best Wishes EricT
