Another days flying done this morning.. with the Bixler today. No probs at all.. flies a treat. I never bothered doing range checks on it either Mild enough for me to get 3 batteries through the old girl The place is a bloody quagmire though. Despite me having tape on the underside of the fuse.. it's starting to look worn and dirty Never mind.. I'll have to buy a new one when funds (and SWMBO) allow

A chap came over to me while I was on the last battery and asked how much models like the Bixler cost. He's into RC cars n stuff at the mo. He pointed me to Aldridge Airfield (I didn't think there was one.. not since the war anyway). A nice little tarmac strip there apparently (thinks of putting the landing gear back on the Cub) It's not like walking across the common but it's only about 4 miles away. Wonder if TM has flown over there recently

EDIT: Incidentally Ed.. how many flights do you get out of the DX6i on average.. a rough figure will do. I was surprised to find space for only 4 AA's in the back.. both the ZX10 and FMS N.6 have 8! Running on past experience.. I could squeeze 30 out of the FMS using the ASW28 and this dropped to the 25 mark with the Bixler (much longer flight times). I guess around a dozen with the Bixler/DX6i before the voltage warning pokes me in the eye? Also.. do you have a charger for the DX6i and use rechargables or do you use Duracell's

Hi Mate,

I found myself wondering exactly the same thing in relation to the battery life in the DX6i.

Never really bothered with Ni-cad's in the tx. I've always used Energizer High Tech AA's.

They last for ages. God knows how many flights but I'll replace them in the tx when the voltage gets to around 5.4V on the display.

Usually get em from Morrisons mate. They often do a two for one deal.

Been out with the Stryker on New Years Day. Had a blast. Got people stopping in their tracks to watch.

Probably thinking "Go on crash ya b@stard!".

I've always used Duracell's and they were on offer over Christmas at Asda so I've plenty. The wife asked on Sunday if I wanted any more as they're still on offer. I might take her up on it I still have 4 x 8 packs and 6 left from a box I bought online. Dates are 2019 and they'll be gone well before then

George.. not sure about barrage balloons at Aldrige but it's possible. I'll ask my uncle tomorrow

When I saw that dirigible a few shots ago, it reminded me that Trev's Weston-on-the-Green could do with one. I'll take a screenie of where it should go. The SAS use it (I believe) to test jump from. Knowing that lot.. them simply jump out of it from 200ft and dust themselves off We all thought we were jumping from it until a little Cessna landed with no rear RH doors. You don't expect us to jump from that do you??

I honestly couldn't say if it's inflated all the time but it was up the fortnight I was there. It's not a biggun.. more the size of something you'd see flying off a ship in convoy during WWII
