Hello Dave and mysterious speepig. Thanks very much for thinking of me and reminding me of stuff. Getting turned around in Singapore after Fatty's prawns sounds like a fine idea. In the old days most of us would have welcomed that and it delayed more than a few 221 divorces!
Your trip - in the other thread - sounds totally wonderful, Dave. It was an ambitious trip for someone as senior as you, but hopefully you got a comfortable seat on the longest sectors

Such a lovely thought to know that you found the opportunity to raise your glass to me at some memorable places too. You big softy! Quite touching, though. And thanks for the deerstalking image. That gave me a good laugh - especially the thought of the deer pretending that they hadn't seen you
I miss the countryside so much, which sounds daft as I'm surrounded by it

I seem to have so much to do to get things wrapped up and unfortunately I can't settle down and get them finalised without the pain setting in so I have to take lots of breaks and come back to it all later. Still, I'm nearly done and I'm hoping for a new painkilling regime soon so with some luck I'll be able to be more adventurous. The breathing is getting harder, too, and I might have to go into the hospital to have fluid drained from my lung but not yet.
The taxpayer is being very generous, though. If you had to choose a cancer to have, then this one is quite profitable. I get a good sized allowance that nobody seems to know what for and I've been awarded a 20k lump sum just for having this particular disease. It's got it's own compensation scheme and the application form was so easy I had to phone up to check that it wasn't a scam

Still, it will certainly give me the opportunity to have my last couple of months being cared for professionally (Another martini please, nurse

)
Thanks again for your posts. I'll let you know when something else happens
Ian
