Very interesting. This was the reason for the 80 kts comparison call which most airlines introduced in the 1970s, although some, such as SAS, have since given it up. Any discrepancy should result in a stop call, thus preventing this type of mishap ( the take off overrun) which statistically is the most fatal of all types

I can't remember where it was, but I read somewhere that the aircraft was departing empty, because it had only just been repaired after a previous prang :doho:
